Digitising restaurant experience, to boost global foodservice biz

With smartphone ownership rising worldwide and more consumers using their mobile devices to interact with restaurant brands, Euromonitor International predicts that by 2022, 9% of all foodservice orders will be placed online — representing about US$292 billion in revenue.
The digital channel, reports Stephen Dutton, senior analyst for Euromonitor, offers new ground for engagement and digital strategies are directly contributing to the success of many top global chains.
App-based delivery is also driving sales, food delivery is an important and impactful opportunity in foodservice. In fact, Euromonitor found that food delivery is currently the fastest growing dining occasion in foodservice, and that global delivery sales are expected to grow 69% over the next five years adding an incremental $100 billion by 2022.
