The FHA-Food & Beverage 2023, held at the Singapore Expo, recently showcased F&B products from more than 1300 exhibitors and featured trends impacting the F&B industry in the Asia-Pac region. According to show organiser Informa, the show spotlighted the concept of sustainability and its applications to F&B.
Janice Lee, event director, Hospitality, Food & Beverage – Singapore, Informa Markets, emphasised the importance of sustainability in the F&B industry. Lee noted that the concept is embedded in several of the show's offerings this year, including a zero-waste booth demonstrating how booth materials could be reduced and recycled. The zero-waste booth was just one example of how the organisers work to promote industry sustainability.
The event also played host to content sessions at the FHA Seminar Theatre, where key topics such as working towards a zero-carbon footprint in the F&B industry, the role of standards in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) claims in the F&B industry, as well as regenerative agri-food systems, spurred conversations on a more sustainable food future. Another important topic of discussion at the show was the alternative protein industry. Chefs and scientists shared their insights on creating alternative protein products for the F&B industry. Specialised zones, including Food Technology and Alternative Protein Asia, showed innovative sustainable food solutions, such as a plant-based egg yolk substitute. This is an exciting development, as it has the potential to revolutionise the industry and provide more sustainable options for consumers.
With the FHA offerings this year, attendees gained priceless ideas and knowledge from the industry's best. However, there is more excitement to come next year, said Informa’s Lee. She said FHA-HoReCa 2024 in October would be even more thrilling with the World Chef’s Congress joining in, promising to attract top international culinary superstars to the Singapore-based trade show.
