Korea to hold ‘Halal Restaurant’ week

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) will hold a virtual "Halal Restaurant Week Korea 2021" for two months, starting September 1 until October 31, 2021. The event aims to promote the country as a Muslim-friendly tourist dining destination. Participating halal restaurants will offer special discounts for visitors already in Korea. Online content such as videos created by key social media influencers will highlight halal restaurants in Korea. Meanwhile, the KTO Channel on YouTube will feature 10 “Halal TV” episodes that allow visitors to virtually travel to top tourist spots. The videos will also provide more details on Korean halal food offered in participating restaurants.
The channel will also host Korean halal food cooking classes to introduce Korean halal food recipes to viewers. Chef Choi Kwang-ho will host the Korean Halal Food Cooking Studio. He was also the host of last year's cooking channel.
According to reports, the global halal foods and beverages market is one of the fastest-growing consumer markets globally. Data showed that the growing Muslim population is the biggest driver globally for the halal foods and beverages market. The Asia Pacific contributes to almost 90% of the total market share.
