Chillax Asia 2019, platform to boost Singapore's Bakery & Confectionery sector

Chillax Asia, also known as the Food, Bakery & Beverage Exposition 2019, unveiled a number of new developments designed to drive the concept of entrepreneurship deeper into Singapore's food, bakery and confectionery sector last month.
Following the signing of an agreement between the Singapore Bakery & Confectionary Trade Association (SBCTA), the Workforce Singapore, and the Employment and Employability Institute (E2i), Chillax Asia organiser The Planner Affairs also launched The Entrepreneur Kit for the F&B sector during the three-day show.
This online toolkit is said to be a comprehensive guide to helping new entrants get into the food and beverage sector. The toolkit contains information such as what administrative steps are needed, licenses required, grants available, a directory of service providers, and access to those seeking financial help.
Thomas Tan, managing director, The Planner Affairs, said:
"For months, the team has been working hard to put together the most comprehensive guide for the bakery and confectionery sector and this came to fruition at Chillax Asia 2019. We trust this kit is of invaluable help for would-be entrepreneurs as it explains what kind of licences are needed for setting up a business, how to go about getting the requisite papers, and how to access financial institutions who are willing to help."
This year’s show also marked the commencement of the Singapore Bake-A-Star Championship competition for the Bread, Cake and Cake Decoration categories. The winners were Barcook Bakery Singapore's Steven Loh, who clinched the top prize in the Bread category. Carina Tan and Bryan Lai from RC Hotel (S) Swissotel clinched the prize for the Cake category and accompanying them for the top prize in the Cake Decoration category was Chin Chee Wu.
Chillax Asia also drew international participation from members of the International Federation Chinese Bakery Confectionary Association; the Filipino-Chinese Bakery Association; All China Bakery Association; the Hong Kong Bakery & Confectionary Association; Taipei Bakery Association and the Sabah Confectionary & Bakery Association.
Meanwhile, Tan cheerfully revealed more highlights of the show to Tasty Asia in this video.
