Inaugural show on food packaging launched in Manila

Propak Philippines, tagged as the “first-of-its-kind food, drink, and pharmaceutical processing and packaging focused trade exhibition” in the country was held at the World Trade Center in Manila last week —bringing in 292 leading companies from 29 countries, nine international pavilions from China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the UK together with a full programme of industry seminars.
According to show organiser UBM, the three-day business convention comes at a time of huge economic growth and exports in the Philippines and emphasizes the need for business owners in the country to adopt innovative packaging and processing solutions.
Apart from exhibits, ProPak Philippines hosted PackPinas —a series of experts-led sessions that covered various topics, from food safety, standardisation and business expansion, to packaging design and sustainable practices in packaging.
Other sessions touched on Quality Control and Food Safety where ProPak had four specialised seminars, namely: Mandatory Label Requirements for the Philippines and the World, Safety & Quality Requirements of Packed Food Products, FDA Requirements for the Processed Food and Non-Food Industries, and Safety Quality Requirements of Packed Food Products.
ProPak Philippines was supported by the Department of Trade and Industry, the Packaging Institute of the Philippines, the Dairy Confederation of the Philippines, the Production Management Association of the Philippines, the Philippine Printing Technical Foundation, the Association of Laguna Food Processors Inc., the Philippine Association of Food Technologists Inc., and other allied industries and associations. Next year’s Propak Philippines is scheduled on February 4-6, 2020.
