Cook like a K-drama in Thai live-on event

This week, the Korea Agro Trade Fisheries & Food Corporation (aT) hosts a Zoom online cooking class for Thailand consumers. At the 'K-Food Fair Live On' event, participants will learn to cook various dishes featured in K-dramas - such as 'Squid Game' and 'Itaewon Class' — currently gaining popularity worldwide in global streaming channels. Chef Michal is hosting the cooking show. Michal is well-known and loved for his features in JTBC's 'Chef & My Fridge', SBS's 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2', and many more television appearances. He developed the recipes specifically to suit the Thai taste palette. Examples of recipes include 'kimchi pad thai, a localised menu using kimchi, a staple of Korean cuisine. Online participants will also learn how to make 'tteokbokki' and the 'shine muscat-ade', a refreshing drink apt for Thailand's hot weather. Thailand residents can register for 'K-Food Fair Live On' at the aT website. Fifty participants will be selected to receive a kit containing the ingredients needed for the class.
This online initiative exemplifies how Korean government agencies promote their cuisine in the virtual world due to the pandemic. In November last year, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) its Halal TV with its "Halal K-Food Cooking Studio". The show taught viewers how to prepare halal versions of Korean dishes such as Bibimbap, Tteokbokki and K-Ramyeon noodles. Another programme was the "Halal Restaurant Tasty Party", where Muslim expatriates in Korea shared their views on some well-known halal restaurants across Seoul. (Image from Unsplash)
