New partnership to boost India's agrifood tech sector

Israeli not-for-profit start-up Nation Central partnered with India's The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE), said to be one of the world's largest networks of entrepreneurs. The partnership aims to fully implement sustainable Israeli and Indian technologies in the agrifood tech sector, particularly in novel foods, post-harvest solutions, alternative protein, food safety, and packaging. In a memorandum of agreement (MOU), a unique mentorship programme consisting of three eight-month cohorts will connect industry leaders to Israeli and Indian start-ups. The programme will support Israeli companies' market entry into India through matching, mentoring, connections, and onboarding strategic stakeholders. The end goal of the programme is to reach commercial agreements.
According to Nation Central's CEO Avi Hasson, technological innovation and entrepreneurship could change the face and trajectory of nations. He said farmers face increasingly harsher weather conditions, environmental pollutants, and soil depletion. These challenges compound global concerns over food scarcity, global population growth, and increased product demand. Technologies that can either improve crop yields or transform, preserve, and tailor foods with improved functional and nutritional values will ensure a stable food supply in the future.
Given the size of the market and population and the exciting tech scene in India, this partnership can offer incredible opportunities in the agrifood tech sector, he concluded. (Image from Unsplash)
