More growth for the macadamia nut market

The global macadamia nut market size will grow by US$ 2.95 billion by 2028, according to a new report by Grand View Research. Data showed an accelerated growth rate due to more consumers' preferring healthy snack options. The market is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.7% from 2021 to 2028. Research revealed that organic macadamia is also becoming more popular with the increased demand primarily coming from European countries.
Macadamia nuts are native to Australia and farmed there. However, most commercial production is in Hawaii in the US. Other US states cultivating the nuts are California and Florida. There are also several countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia that produce macadamia nuts. The highest quality macadamia kernels are free of defects or insect and fungal damage and contain at least 72% oil. The kernels with less than 72% oil are usually immature with tough textures. They become over-brown when roasted. Macadamia nuts are also used in butter, chocolate coating and as a confectionery ingredient. (Image from Unsplash)
