Interesting discoveries at Food Japan 2019

Food Japan 2019 held at Suntec Singapore, concluded last week with over 200 exhibitors from across 40 Japanese prefectures. This year’s edition of the annual show brought not only the latest industry developments and trends in Japanese food and drinks, but also more than 200 new-to-market and new-to-Singapore products. The show was also an opportunity for the local F&B industry to connect directly with Japanese suppliers and providers for the freshest and highest quality in ingredients, materials, equipment, and services.
As a media partner of Food Japan 2019, Tasty Asia was at the show to look for new products that promise to tantalise South-east Asia’s F&B markets. Here are some of our Tasty Finds:


Prime Japanese fish Nodoguro ‘swims’ to new markets


Kiyotaka Kawakami, senior managing director of Sealife Co Ltd showed visitors the company’s premium Nodoguro fish caught along the northern coast of western Japan. Kawakami told Tasty Asia that his company is looking for Asian distributors for this premium Japanese fish.


Udon noodles wows show visitors



Tomohito Isshiki, general manager, international marketing department, Ishimaru Seimen (centre) explains to Tasty Asia’s Kristy Tan how the company’s udon noodles made from natural ingredients by bringing an expert noodle maker to the show.


Egg-citing find 


A team from the largest egg company in Japan, Ise Foods showcased and presented on their latest innovative egg beverage products to visitors last week. 


A taste of Kumamoto in a bowl of soup


The Hoshiko team was on hand to brief queries about the company’s premium dried vegetable products grown in the Kumamoto region, as well as offer delicious soup made with these vegetables. Being first time exhibitors to Food Japan, the company is looking for distributors for their products in Singapore.


Organic produce from Kagoshima 

The Kagoshima Organic Farmers Association, represented by Hyuma Fukumoto, general manager of the association’s overseas division, gave visitors information about the region’s organic produce and products that can be shipped to other markets in Asia.
